The human race, it
seems, is plagued with an odd array of strange ailments and conditions
that try to get us down. Scoliosis is one of the many conditions that crop
up in humanity that can lead to pain, discomfort and embarrassment. More
people suffer from this condition than people realize and while it is not
a very serious condition in most cases, it can lead to some very trying
pain for the patient. Scoliosis pain
is one of the many different things that scoliosis sufferer has to deal
with.
Scoliosis is a condition
where the spine grows with an abnormal curve in it on a lateral level. In
some cases it might simply be a simple curve but in serious cases it can
be as bad as the spine having a literal 's' shape to it. In most cases of
scoliosis the cause of the condition is actually unknown and starts to
show at the onset of adolescence. This is known as idiopathic scoliosis.
The other causes include congenital scoliosis, degenerative scoliosis and
developmental scoliosis. While the cause of these conditions are generally
known, they are still mystery and since they crop up a lot less frequently
than idiopathic scoliosis doctors do not have as much time to study and
understand them. But no matter what form of scoliosis is present the
problem of scoliosis pain is still there.
Most people sometimes
use scoliosis pain
incorrectly and research has shown that people suffering from scoliosis
are not likely to suffer from more back pain than other people. The pain
from scoliosis usually comes from the muscular pain, as the muscles on one
side of the curve of the spine have to work harder to keep the body
upright. The other sort of back pain is not necessarily attributed to
scoliosis but the condition - if severe enough - can certainly aggravate
other forms of back pain in sufferers of scoliosis. Since most adults
suffer from some back pain caused by the natural degeneration of the body,
it is sometimes hard to know when the pain caused is being caused by
scoliosis.
Aside from the obvious
solution of painkillers, there are other methods to help with the
scoliosis pain in the back. Physical therapists have a range of exercises
that are designed for scoliosis sufferers. These include a variety of,
amongst other things, stretches that will improve the flexibility,
strength and tone of the muscles in the back. If the muscles are stronger
then they are able to handle a larger strain and will not have to work as
hard. While this may not be a solution for everyone, for many people the
exercises have helped them cope with the pain.
Scoliosis pain is yet another fact of life for people who suffer from this
condition. Even if the condition is surgically treated there is still a
chance that a person may suffer some form of pain in the back. If you are
suffering from back pain that might be attributed to scoliosis then ask
your doctor for ways to reduce or eliminate
it.
